My first IV

So I have been thinking about posting for awhile but wasn't sure if I should post a picture because I think that it looks gross but Jocelyn asked me to so I will. You might be able to see Mom's initials on my wrist (at the top left corner under the clear bandaging) indicating that they were operating on the proper wrist.

I lay on my back with my right arm straight out with the IV (my first) and my left arm straight out for surgery feeling like I was on a cross. The last thing that I remember before the General anesthesia knocked me out was the ceiling going fuzzy and thinking that I didn't like it.

My first memory afterward was when I was still groggy. I thought I was in my bed at home and that I had had a very strange dream about something called a ganglion cyst and that I had to have surgery. Then I started to actually wake up and finally heard the heart monitor beeping out my heart beat, I realized that it was not a dream and that I could feel the IV in my arm and the cold ice on my wrist. I opened my eyes and could not focus, but I could see that someone was by me, checking my charts or something, I closed one eye and was able to focus on her. She had me talk to her a bit and tell her if my wrist hurt or not and how much on a scale of 1-10. My wrist was more of an irritation than painful and I really wanted to close again and go back to sleep.

I had told one of the nurses in Pre-op that I was a swimmer and somehow everyone knew that I swim. The nurse in post-op took her 15 min break after I woke up and told the nurse who was going to watch me for her that I was a swimmer and that was why my heart rate was slow.
Well I had my first IV removed and they moved me to a chair and gave me a toasty warm blanket because I couldn't stop shivering and then they brought mom in and talked to her about how to care for me and whatnot. I don't know exactly what was said or anything because I was still groggy, but I do remember that I was suposed to work my way slowly from clear fluids to solids.
After I got dressed Mom went and got the car and the nurse wheeled me out to the front to wait for her. I got into the car and mom asks me if I want a Jamba Juice, so we go over and get some and we each get a pretzel with cheese that was delishous. We ate a bit in the car before Mom realized that I was suposed to be on clear liquids still, so ohwell what's done is done and I didn't have a problem with it.

Surgery

So for those of you who didn't know, I have a ganglion cyst on my left wrist. So earlier this summer I went into the doctor's office and he said that I have three options, 1) leave it there, it won't do any damage 2) something to do with a needle and getting the fluid out with the likely hood that it will come back later and 3) having surgery and have it more likely it won't return. So I chose option #3. On Monday Mom told me that the papers or whatever were in so that we could schedule the surgery. So Mom decided that Friday would be a good time to have the surgery and scheduled the pre-op for Wednesday. So, I was thinking I wouldn't be able to have it out until after school started because of Tamara's wedding and then having my senior pictures, but instead it will be this Friday!
So I have until Friday to pack to leave the apartment because we will be moving back into the house while I can’t lift heavy things with my left wrist.

So I was looking around...

So, Mom wanted me to look a recipe up on a blog so that she could make it for dinner (she may want a late lunch, I'm not sure). I decided to look around and see what my siblings have posted on their blogs. Little did I know that almost all of them are subscribed to my blog, but I haven't posted anything yet. So, hello to everyone reading this and welcome to my Blog, I have finally posted something.

My name is Chelsea and I have three older sisters who I love very much and a brother who is closer to me than any one else in the world. My oldest sister is getting married soon and I am looking forward to the wedding and having Jack be part of our family (he is a really great guy and I tell all of my friends that my sister couldn't have a better match if she was the main character in a book).

I was able to go to Spain and Portugal this last February with my school's choir and Canada with my parents in March. I think that I should go to Mexico to round off my trips to foreign Countries for the year. I went Skiing with some girls from church in Big Bear in March, which was a lot of fun!!! I visited two of my sisters after school got out for the summer and had a blast with both of them. When I got home from my sisters' I turned around and drove up to Zion National Park with another group of friends from church and hiked the Narrows (bottom up for those who want to know which of the two hikes we took) for the first time. We also went trail riding near Bryce Canyon we rode the horses along the edge of the Canyon. That was an amazing two days with beautiful sights.
Well, I may blog more about some of this later, but for now I'm done. Have a great day! thank you for reading my blog
